Laem Haad Beach is the standout natural attraction on Ko Yao Yai island, a short ferry ride from the Krabi coast. It is known for a long sandspit that emerges at low tide, stretching several hundred metres into Phang Nga Bay with views of the surrounding limestone karsts. The beach itself is quiet and undeveloped — no jet skis, no beach clubs — and the shallow water on either side of the bar makes it an easy swim. Timing matters: visit at high tide and there is no sandbar, only a narrow strip of shore. Check tide tables before you go.
